You’ve written your script, produced your video, and now you have to make sure all your hard work doesn’t go to waste. There’s no point making an excellent marketing video if your target audience don’t see it. Here are our top 5 tips for improving visibility for your online marketing video:

1. Find Forums Discussing the Problem Your Video Solves

In our previous post we discussed how your marketing video should highlight your unique selling point, or solve a problem your audience is experiencing. Find relevant forums, blogs, LinkedIn groups or Q&A sites like Quora or Yahoo answers where people are asking about this problem, and post your video to answer their question in a visual way.

2. Use your Existing Marketing Channels to Spread the Word

Link to your video on your marketing newsletters, and feature it on your blog. Using your own internal channels to market your promotional video will not only build the number of views, it will help your SEO efforts by linking to original content. Depending on the content of your promotional video, you may decide to use it on your homepage as the first thing people see when they visit your site.

3. Get it Up on Your Facebook Page (and Your Twitter, Pinterest, Google+ page, etc)

Marketing your material on your business Facebook page just isn’t enough anymore. With Facebook’s new algorithm, most people just won’t see what your group is posting, so it’s crucial to widen your range to include other relevant social networks. Figure out where you audience is, be it LinkedIn or Tumblr, and make sure your marketing video is there too.

4. Don’t Forget your Own Personal Social Media Streams

Whether your marketing video is promoting your family run business or the tech company you are a part of, you should feel free to post it via your own social media pages. As long as it will be interesting to people who follow you, and it is something you are proud of, there’s no shame in sharing, within reason. The added plus of sharing via your own channels is that people are more likely to give you feedback, which brings me to my third point….

5. Don’t Post and Run

When you are promoting your online video don’t just schedule it to go out on a ton of company social media pages and blogs, and then leave it. Use your video as an opportunity to reach out and connect with your target audience, Respond to any feedback you get, including negative feedback, and try to use it to improve your future marketing efforts.
