How to Super Charge Your eBook Sales in 48 Hours

After weeks of hard work and many sleepless nights, you’ve finally managed to complete your first eBook.

Congratulations!

You must be expecting lots of sales.

After all, you’ve squeezed every ounce of creativity and knowledge to make your eBook irresistible for the buyers.

It just can’t go wrong from here, right?

Wrong!

This is actually where the hard work begins.

See, you’re not the only one who’s trying to sell an eBook on the internet, and you’re certainly not alone when it comes to hard work.

But that doesn’t guarantee sales.

That’s just a mandatory part of selling anything – you need to have good product.

To make real long term sales, you need to have a strategy.

A strategy that can give your product early momentum, generate word of mouth and trigger a chain reaction to boost your sales.

And this is what I’m going to discuss in this post.

Step 1 – Get the Basics Right

For any marketing strategy to work in the long run, you need to have the basic ingredients right. So as I said earlier, your product must be strong and its presentation should be top notch.

In this particular case, you need to have an eBook that offers real value to the buyers. Something that you would buy yourself.

I know this means lots of hard work.

But did I ever say that you’ll be able to make quick money out of a substandard product?

You might do that for the first few times, but as soon as the refund demands start coming in, your reputation would be tainted forever.

So the first step is to write a value packed eBook with an impeccable cover design.

Once you get that done, let’s move on to the next step.

Step 2 – Build a Selling Platform

Assuming that you have already created a great eBook, you now need to build a platform where your potential buyers would be routed.

Designing a solid visitor landing page is as important as creating the eBook itself. If you get it wrong, you won’t make much sales no matter how valuable your eBook might be.

Now there are two ways of doing this.

You can go for a conventional content rich and lengthy landing page that will contain opt-in forms and buy now buttons after every few paragraphs.

While I do not under estimate the effectiveness of such landing pages, I believe they have become far too common and have lost the trust of most internet users.

The Alternate Strategy

An example of how you can display your eBook

So instead of the conventional landing page model, I’d recommend you to adopt a different approach.

Use free digital product selling tools like Selz on a landing page with minimum distractions. It also has its own WordPress plugin that makes it extremely simple to integrate with your landing page.

The advantage with such tools is that you can use their attractive widgets, which contain the opt-in forms and buy now buttons as well, to display your eBook. So the whole focus of the page will be on the attractive design of your product.

Selz can also be integrated with major payment gateways and can accept payments in all prominent international currencies.

Moreover, the buyer is not redirected anywhere else because the whole buying process will be completed on the same webpage. As soon as the purchase is made, your eBook will be automatically delivered to the buyer’s email.

In my experience with digital products, the high number of page redirects is one of the major buyer turn-offs.

Step 3 – Create a Marketing Video

There’s one more step before you start generating traffic for your eBook’s landing page. You’ve already left the landing page pretty much empty, so that your buying widget remains at the center of your visitors’ attention. But you still need to connect with the potential buyers.

This is where you need to show your presentation and public speaking skills.

Yes, you’ll need to create a marketing video!

No other form of content marketing connects as instantly with internet users as an intelligently created marketing video.

It will create your credibility in front of your target audience and will give you an opportunity to directly convey the benefits of your eBook.

Nothing beats that!

And you don’t even need to spend much time on it either.

Shoot a 1-2 minute video in which you introduce yourself as an expert in your niche and quickly mention the reasons why your eBook is absolutely worth buying.

Easier said than done!

If you get this video right, 99% of your job will be done.

Alternatively, if you have any issues in facing the camera, you can use slides with the image of your product and your voice in the background.

Once you get this video ready, let’s start generating traffic!

Step 4 – Integrate the Video With Your Landing Page

Another reasons why I would recommend using tools like Selz is because you can completely change the user experience of your landing page with it.

Now that you have a short marketing video ready with you, you can make it a part of the eBook selling widget on your landing page.

Simply upload your video using your free account on Selz, and it will be played to your potential customers every time they visit your landing page.

Now how cool is that!

Multimedia landing pages get MUCH higher conversions than plain text landing pages.

This will also be a very strong differentiation point for your eBook and will build your credibility in the eyes of the visitors.

Step 5 – Generating Highly Targeted Traffic from Facebook

I am sure you realize that generating organic traffic from search engines is much more difficult now than it used to be.

Over the last 2 years, Google has brought a series of search engine algorithm updates that have added tons of new factors that impact search engine rankings. This has made it harder to naturally rank higher in search results on competitive keywords.

And even if you do have a solid SEO strategy it would still take days, if not weeks, before you can start appearing anywhere near the first page in Google Search.

A much quicker, effective and targeted strategy is to generate traffic using Facebook advertisements.

I recommend using your marketing video here as well.

Instead of a simple image or text based ad, create a Facebook video ad. They usually convert much better.

You’ll need to spend a few dollars for that, of course.

But the return on investment is so quick and significant, that every dollar is absolutely worth spending.

Kim Roach of BuzzBlogger, used a similar strategy to generate $5000 of dollars in just 7 days by selling her eBook “2014 Rolodex”.

Along with Facebook video marketing, she added email marketing to her strategy as well.

Naturally, she’s one of the most vocal advocates of Facebook marketing.

Note: You can view her case study in greater detail here

But not all of us have huge mailing lists like Kim.

That’s why I believe focusing on a multimedia landing page and connecting it with Facebook ads would give you great results even if you don’t have a huge mailing list.

But don’t just start spending without a strategy.

Here’s a step by step guide to selecting the most relevant audience and creating a powerful Facebook ad campaign for your eBook.

  1. Upload the marketing video to your Facebook page (I am assuming you already have a fan page) and add the URL of your landing page in the post content along with a one line message for the audience.

  2. Set up a Facebook ad campaign using the video that you’ve made. Select the “Promote a Post” ad type for your campaign. Select your video post to promote.

  3. While setting up the ad campaign, choose the most relevant region, age group and interest group for your product. (Hint: Use Facebook graph search to find people who follow the pages of your competitors.)

  4. Start your campaign with a daily budget of $10. Now wait for your campaign to run.

Yes, you heard it right.

You only need to start your campaign with $10. It’s always wise to create multiple ads to increase the probability higher of click through rates.

If you get it right, you should get around 80-100 hits on your landing page for every $10!

Even if 10% of those visitors convert into buyers, just imagine the sort of revenues you can generate with your eBook.

Conclusion

As a freelance writer, your focus should be on developing sustainable income sources that can complement your writing services in the long run. So if you have already created a value packed eBook, you can use this aggressive marketing strategy to significantly boost your sales within the next 48 hours and build a solid platform for future product launches as well.

Have you tried this strategy before? I’d love to hear about it, if you have, or any other strategy that helped you accelerate your eBook sales.
