Boost those conversions using the 3Cs

blog #2

Getting people to read your blog is the end goal for some people who write; others want to sell goods or services so they want their words to create an action. For those people who are trying to monetize their blog, some handy tips might be all that’s needed to boost those conversions and turn conversions into sales.

Change out a landing page

Anything that even looks dated on the Internet can be the kiss of death. What’s interesting here is the longer you’ve had a url with a site attached, the better your credibility in the eyes of the search engine. However, at the same time, a new template or unique layout can boost your motivation and show people that have been visiting your site and waffling that you’re engaged.

All the better if you’re using WordPress with a unique domain name since you can change the look of your blog without tarnishing any of the credentials and rankings you’ve been working hard to put together.

Consider the blink test

Web designers will tell you you’ve got three to five seconds to capture a potential client’s or reader’s attention. It’s called the blink test and if you want to pass it and keep people on that all-important first page long enough to get to your Call To Action, you need to consider having the most important content above what would be the fold if your screen was a page of paper. Visitors want to feel like you’re talking to them personally, so you should be writing using phrases like ‘you’ and ‘your’.

There’s still no substitute for words in getting your message across. Keeping things simple as far as fonts is the best way to go. Flashy lettering and attention grabbing graphics are great ways to momentarily capture interest, but your message needs to come across in well written words that are specific to the audience you’re trying to reach.

Capture Video

Now while it’s true you need well written content to make your case, you can use video effectively in some specific cases too. Blogs that are trying to appeal to a B2B or B2C audience can use this technique with a step by step tutorial to explain how a simple product works.

In the end, the idea behind boosting conversions for your blog is about being willing to shake things up and try something new if what you’re doing isn’t getting you the numbers and sales you’re looking for. Don’t forget to track the effectiveness of any results with one of the analytics tools that are available on the web.

Finally, you should be testing the load times for your site as well. Having a sluggish blog in the days of dwindling attention spans can ruin your chances before prospects even get to the landing page.
